Goose Wunderlich’s Community Service

17x7” Vinyl Records

Adam Ormerod aka DJ Goose gave me a copy of ‘The Hit World of Klaus Wunderlich’ for the ‘You Sound Like a Broken Record’ project. He bought hiw first two copies of the record so he cut up the break (open drum section) on the track Sugar Me / Standing in the Road. These drums had been used by the rapper Edan on his track ‘MCs Smoke Crack Rmx’. Goose’s connection to this break came about becasue a DJ friend of his from Leeds had discovered the break and passed on that crate digging knowledge to Edan when he came to play at Leeds’ hip hop night ‘The Drum Major’.

Over the years Adam ammassed eighteen copies of the record, as he bought every copy he saw in the charity shops around the North West of England. As response to this insight into the art and narratives attached the practice of crate digging, I had the sound piece made from the engraved Kalus Wunderlich record, lathe cut onto 17 x 7” records. I placed these records in charity shops around Lancashire, to be found by eagle eyed collectors. Free art for the community, you just have to know where to look…
